Beirut
I know, two photographs from the same set. But I thought this one turned out very well (hi, Kristin). Beirut took the stage at Joe's Pub last night, rollin right deep, showing off a newly-found powerful orchestral sound. Frontman Zach Condon much more at ease and confident, heading his army of musicians; he jokingly refered to the first song as "Monster Island," and said, of another, that they hadn't finalized the name just yet, but to do so, he would "just throw some names of European cities into a hat." Condon made an offhand remark about not being fed before the show, an an audience member passed up her salad from the front row. The drummer gratefully took it, and then asked for a fork, which was then provided. All in all, a magical performance.
