Of Montreal

I never would have predicted that Of Montreal's Satanic Panic in the Attic would have become a hit with the new indie rock set, but that's probably because I'm more familiar with the earlier, way more twee, sugary incarnations of the band in their cotton candy nonsense days. Everything old is new again, I suppose. The props, dramatic flairs, and costumes are still there. And Kevin Barnes continues to write catchy, pop songs, but without the preciousness or circus-like instrumentation of the past. The band played a surprisingly full-sounding set to an appreciative crowd and I found myself really admiring how much they've grown over the last few years.
